What do you like best about your position?
I enjoy the people I work with and the people in the community. There's a great energy at Lehigh and every day is always different.
What time do you arrive at work? What time do you leave work?
I work from 7:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. and certain days I work 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. I work a lot of overtime for different functions on campus as well.
Why did you choose Lehigh University as your employer of choice?
I used to work for a university and I really enjoy the energy of the campus life; the police department is accredited and regionally recognized.
What Lehigh University events and activities have you participated in beyond your department to become a more active member of the Lehigh community?
I have attended many different events at Lehigh and I have recently become a R.A.D. instructor. "Shop with a Lehigh Cop" is a program that reaches out to the community and helps families during the holiday season. Knowing how the economy is, it brings joy and a smile to families and myself and those who participate in this program. The community police unit, at times, will set up a resource table where we will meet and greet people who live in the community, students, faculty, or staff, and explain our role in the police department/community. We also go to local day care centers and meet the children as well as visit local businesses and introduce ourselves.
What is your favorite location on campus and why?
Being a community police officer, I patrol a lot of lower campus/off-campus housing areas. I like the University Center. I enjoy the different cultures you encounter there while having breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
What do you like best about working for an academic institution?
The educational benefits that one can take advantage of; the different events that occur on campus, especially the sporting events.
