Resources for Career Development

At Lehigh, you have several options for professional growth including increased responsibility in your current position, a lateral move to another position or area, or promotion to a higher level position.

If you are interested in moving to a new position within the university, you should to take an active role in expanding your knowledge, skills, and abilities.  Here are a few suggestions:

  • Review the information in the Workplace Learning (link) section of this website to learn more about our resources.  Programs like Career Power Lunch and Career Coaching could offer you the tools and motivation you need to move ahead. Others, like Crucial Conversations, can help you become a more effective communicator and leader.
  • Our Job Family Compass Guides (secure link) provide detailed descriptions of the key accountabilities, skills, knowledge, and success factors for positions within each of the twenty-four job families identified at Lehigh. Each Compass Guide also provides a set of resources that employees can use to chart their own career growth and development.
  • Additional information about job families, position accountabilities, skills, knowledge and experience, and success factors are available on the Campus Portal under the ‘Employee’ tab. Employees can also print a copy of their position description from the Campus Portal by selecting this link.
