Walt Conway
Assistant Director, Budget Office
25 Years of Service

Walt worked in various positions in Internal Audit for 18 years prior to taking the role from which he retired. He was part of the Alumni network for students, participated in MOOV for many years both moving students into their dorms and helping with traffic control. He also played Santa Claus at the Lehigh Childcare Center for many years. An MBA graduate of Lehigh prior to working here, he enjoyed taking visitors on informal tours of the campus around lunch time at the spur of the moment if he came across them. He would answer their questions if I knew the answers or refer them to the appropriate resource.  He notes that he met a lot of interesting parents and potential future alumni that way. He saw it as a way to help welcome people to Lehigh. Now that he is retired, Walt plans on doing consulting work and professional education as part of my own business. He is also currently the Division Commander for the East Piedmont Division for District Five North of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary and plans to continue my Auxiliary duties in several capacities including crew, public affairs, program visitation, instructor trainee, information systems and leadership. He currently has 3 flotillas in my division.

Donna Cressman
IT License and Contract Coordinator, LTS
16 Years of Service

During her time at Lehigh, Donna also worked as Coordinator for Technology Management in LTS and as Coordinator for the Center for Innovation in Teaching and Learning (CITL). She enjoyed the opportunity her work provided at Lehigh to help her directors, co-workers and students achieve their goals, whatever they may be. Donna said that she always tried to go out of her way to help with whatever was needed. She supported TRAC students in CITL, helping them navigate their paperwork in order to receive their paychecks. This was especially challenging during the pandemic. Since retiring, Donna is enjoying playing handbells for two churches. She is hoping to do some traveling and spend more time at the beach.

Kathleen Dugan
Linderman Library Coordinator, LTS
25 Years of Service

During her time at Lehigh, Kathleen did a lot of outreach, both in LTS and in the university at large. She was a member of the Summer Reading committee, a NavigateLU facilitator, SOAR captain, gender violence support advocate and chair of the LTS Diversity and inclusion committee. She also served as LTS representative to the CEC. During the pandemic, Kathleen did contact tracing and volunteered in the testing tent and delivering meals to positive students. She also supported Lehigh's international community through her volunteer work. Kathleen shared that the most meaningful times she had at Lehigh were spent volunteering for Pride Center events, CEC's Tackling Tough Topics Together sessions, and other programs where she experienced different cultures and interacted with people from various backgrounds. She said through this work she realized that while we were all different, we all have many things in common no matter what our identities may be. In retirement, she has taken on some "fun" jobs around the Lehigh Valley. She hopes to do a lot of traveling, and eventually either be a snowbird or move to Florida permanently. She says, "I feel like I'm busier now in retirement which is a good thing!"

Randolph S. Shebby
Assistant Director, Environmental Health and Safety
27 Years of Service

Early in his career at Lehigh, Randy began work on developing Lehigh’s online safety training program. He had the idea of hyperlinking PowerPoint programs (followed by a test) for occupational and laboratory safety programs. As Randy notes, this was something new back in 2000. Sarah Rodgers from LTS would visit his office and they would work together developing written computer programs to auto load the PowerPoints from the hyperlink. The OSHA-approved automated program has now been in use for 25 years and covers 25 subject areas. Randy is still mulling what he'll be doing in retirement but has many options. He says "I may work on mastering my guitar playing (always room for improvement). I have a knack for bringing old things back to life....I also do a lot of home improvement projects. However, if I happen to come across a suitable 1972 Glastron GT160, I will acquire it and refurbish it back to new condition."

Jeanne G. Steinberg
Computer Science and Engineering Department
29 Years of Service

Julie A. Tostevin
Financial Analyst, Capital Asset Accounting
Controller's Office
18 Years of Service

During her years at Lehigh, Julie participated in a number of campus activities, including helping with traffic control (and participating in dance flash mobs) during MOOV In, serving as a facilitator for EvoLUtion/First Year Experience, and volunteering at the Dalai Lama's public lecture at Stabler Arena. Once she is officially retired, Julie is looking forward to her first summer vacation in a very long time with her gradndaughter. She also notes that she will continue to make trips to Lehigh's campus with her granddaughter to see "the castles of Arendelle." After the summer, Julie plans to travel and explore the places she has always wanted to see. She'll also work on her "dirt therapy" (gardening), and anticipates spending February somewhere warm.

Sharon L. Wiles-Young
Director of Library Access Services
LTS - Linderman Library
31 Years of Service

In addition to the role from which she retired, Sharon also held the positions of Serials Librarian and Team Leader for Technical Services during her Lehigh career. She enjoyed engaging in the campus community as a First Year Experience mentor (including helping with and doing the ropes course). She also worked with the Community Service Office on the Great Southside Sale and other community events. Sharon dedicated her career to making the libraries a helpful and welcoming space. She and her colleagues started serving free coffee and snacks during exam periods, a tradition that continues today through a partnership with Sodexo. She shared, "I loved coming in at night and hearing the students' reactions when they found the food and enjoyed a cup of coffee or tea during a stressful time. They were always so thankful." In retirement, Sharon continues to use her librarian skills as she is creating a K-12 multicultural library for Freedom Schools in Allentown. She is working on political and social justice issues such as fair funding of Pennsylvania public schools. She is also traveling and tackling reading lists she created when she used to browse the new books purchased by the libraries.
