Can I update my application after submitting it?

There are pieces of the application that can be edited after a submission and others that cannot. If something is unable to be changed you can contact Human Resources at inemploy@lehigh.edu or submit a new application and withdraw the first one.

How long does the recruitment process typically take?

Are there educational qualifications required for all roles?

Each open position will list its requirements, both educational and skills related, in the “Qualifications” section.  Not all positions require a college degree.

The Interview Process

What should I expect during the interview process?

Hiring managers need to fill a role and will want to dive deeper into candidates’ experiences and skills beyond what is listed on a resume. In some cases you can expect multi-step interviews as well as panel interviews with team members and partners who the position will frequently collaborate with.

How can I prepare for an interview?

Preparing for an interview involves several steps to help you feel confident and make a strong impression.

Here are a few areas to focus on:

  1. Research the organization
  2. Understand the role
  3. Practice common interview questions
  4. Prepare your own questions to ask
  5. Test technology/bring necessary materials
  6. Follow-up

Background Checks

Are background checks required for all roles?

Yes, each employee of the University must undergo certain background checks and clearances in order for Lehigh to comply with Pennsylvania law and our Protection of Minors Policy.

How long does it take to complete a background check?

The Pennsylvania Criminal Clearance and Pennsylvania Child Abuse Clearance are completed online. The FBI Fingerprint Clearance must be completed in person and can take 4-6 weeks for processing.

What happens if there’s an issue found in my background check?

Lehigh keeps all background check information confidential. If the background check produces a result it is reviewed carefully by members of the Human Resources staff. The results of the check are analyzed and compared to the responsibilities and nature of the position for which they received an offer, and a determination to move forward with the candidate or not is made. Information regarding background check results is not shared outside of HR. More information can be found on our website.
