ILEP: Individualized Learning and Enrichment Programs

You are here

An Individualized Learning & Enrichment Plan (ILEP) is a detailed document created to map out a customized path for an employee's professional advancement and skill enhancement. This plan acts as a strategic instrument to identify, plan, and implement a personalized learning process that corresponds with the employee's career goals and the organization's aims. The ILEP involves collaboration among the employee, their supervisor or manager, and CE@L to ensure a shared comprehension and consensus on the objectives, approaches, and resources needed to promote ongoing learning and skill development.

Key Components of an ILEP

  1. Assessment & Goal Setting: The ILEP begins with assessing the employee's skills, strengths, and areas for improvement to set SMART goals aligned with their career path and organizational requirements.
  2. Personalized Learning Objectives: These objectives are tailored to individual interests, job roles, and career aspirations. They include various learning opportunities like training programs, certifications, and self-directed learning.
  3. Resource Identification and Implementation: An essential aspect of the ILEP is the identification and allocation of resources necessary to achieve the learning objectives.
  4. Timeline & Progress Tracking: An ILEP features a timeline with milestones for progress tracking. Regular reviews maintain accountability and allow adjustments. This iterative process keeps the ILEP dynamic and responsive.
  5. Coaching and Conversations: The ILEP will also include guiding questions to support employee and supervisor conversations during their regular reviews. These questions are not required but are simply there as a reference guide.
