Voluntary Benefits are products that Lehigh employees can take advantage of if they wish. Lehigh offers these products as a service, however, we do not manage your relationship with each vendor.

Voya Critical Illness, Accident, and Hospital Indemnity Benefits

As of January 1, 2025, Voya is the university’s new voluntary benefits vendor, offering more robust coverage and reduced premiums. Voya will continue providing critical illness and accident coverage while introducing new hospital indemnity benefits and an additional critical illness coverage level for dependent children. Existing Aflac policies will end on December 31, 2024, and will automatically transfer to Voya at the same coverage level.

The Voya critical illness benefit offers employees coverage options of $10,000 or $20,000, with spouses eligible for 50% of the employee’s benefit. Dependent children can also receive 50% of the employee’s coverage. The plan now features lower premiums, coverage for more conditions, and a $50 wellness benefit available for each covered individual.

The accident benefit offers low and high coverage options, available for employees, spouses/partners, and dependent children. The 2025 plan year includes lower premiums and increased benefit amounts for accidents and injuries.

New for 2025, the hospital indemnity plan offers low and high benefit options for employees, spouses/partners, and dependent children. This plan provides a fixed daily benefit for hospital, critical care, or rehab stays, along with a $50 wellness benefit for each covered individual. There is also an additional newborn benefit.
