Dear Colleagues:

As we shared in March, the university is developing a post-pandemic staff flexplace policy. We promised then that the employee community would have the opportunity to read the draft policy and provide feedback prior to its finalization and implementation. We also committed to keeping you updated on any changes regarding the status of our phased return to on-campus work. Acknowledging this is top of mind for many, more information on this topic will be provided in the near future.

At this time, I am pleased to share the draft Flexplace Policy and its accompanying Flexplace Agreement Application form with you today. You will find both of these documents on the Lehigh Human Resources website at this page (login required). There, you will also find a link to the feedback form which you should use to share your thoughts regarding the policy and form. As a reminder, full-time remote work is not covered by this policy.

With our goal of finalizing this policy by the end of the semester, we ask that you provide your feedback by no later than Friday May 7. This will allow the committee to review your responses and, if necessary, make revisions.

Our next communication regarding this policy will be to inform you of its adoption and share the final version. We will also convey the steps we will take to support its implementation, including a training course for supervisors to assist in their efforts to create high performing flexplace teams. At that time we also expect to be able to roll out the policy addressing fully remote work.

We want to hear from you! Please be sure to review and comment on the policy by May 7.

Best regards,

Chris Halladay

Associate Vice President for Human Resources
