Faculty, Staff and Student Workers
As outlined in the Protection of Minors Policy, university faculty and staff, as well as student workers and volunteers working with minors are Mandated Reporters with a duty to report abuse of minors. All employees are required to complete appropriate training. At a minimum, training must include:
- Basic warning signs of abuse or neglect of minors
- Guidelines for protecting minors from emotional and physical abuse and neglect
- Requirements and procedures for reporting incidents or suspected abuse or neglect or improper conduct.
Training may be expanded depending upon the program or activity and the person’s role in the program or activity.
Current employees (faculty and staff) should have already completed this training. If you have not yet completed the training, you should complete it as soon as possible.
New employees (faculty and staff) must complete the training when they begin university employment. Note: This training, entitled Protecting Children: Identifying and Reporting Sexual Misconduct, is different from the University’s online training course regarding harassment and discrimination for staff.

Third Party Organizations
All third party organizations that seek to operate a program or activity involving minors on Lehigh campus must provide documentation to the university upon the university’s request indicating that all individuals who will be interacting with minors (and anyone who supervises such individuals) have completed training that meets or exceeds the minimum requirements of Lehigh's Protection of Minors Policy. Lehigh University's required training program, Protecting Children: Identifying and Reporting Sexual Misconduct, is administered by United Educators.
