Background Checks
Yes, each employee of the University must undergo certain background checks and clearances in order for Lehigh to comply with Pennsylvania law and our Protection of Minors Policy.
The Pennsylvania Criminal Clearance and Pennsylvania Child Abuse Clearance are completed online. The FBI Fingerprint Clearance must be completed in person and can take 4-6 weeks for processing.
Lehigh keeps all background check information confidential. If the background check produces a result it is reviewed carefully by members of the Human Resources staff. The results of the check are analyzed and compared to the responsibilities and nature of the position for which they received an offer, and a determination to move forward with the candidate or not is made. Information regarding background check results is not shared outside of HR. More information can be found on our website.
